Let’s clear the air right now: $23 for an app? That’s insane, right? Well, the truth is, this app is worth every cent. I’ve been using it for several months and the things it can do just grow and grow. In fact, Alfred has replaced several other Paid apps that I was using because of the new features that Andrew Pepperrell continues to roll out. It is in very active development. If you are hesitant on shelling out that kind of cash for an app, head over to the App Store and get the free version. If you’re coming from QuickSilver or Spotlight, you’ll notice right away how much faster Alfred indexes all of your stuff and how much faster it responds. Once you’ve tried out the free version, read more about the PowerPack because it opens up another world of possibilities.
This is just one of those features…
Every morning, I have a few apps that I need to fire up first thing. Propane, Skype, Adium, and a Time Clock app. One of the cool features of Alfred is launching multiple apps in a single group. This one requires the PowerPack. I simply fire up Alfred, type “morning” and hit enter. Voila! I watch all of the apps open up, one right after the other. It’s the little things. 🙂
Here’s how you set it up:
- Open the Alfred window then press Command + , (that’s command and comma)
- Click on the Extensions tab
- In the lower left corner, click the + sign and select “File or Group”
